welcome back, friends!
i'd like to share with you some of the recent discoveries in my life.
the following are some of the answers to my many years of questioning.
they may not be the answers you want to hear (see), nor may they be 100% factual (i'm still trying to research some of the statements made), but they do get you thinking which is the more important factor.
please, for your sake, open your eyes, mind, and heart and at the very least check out the trailers... and please voice your opinion/facts here if you'd like.
here is a nice little list of documentaries i've come across that have filled me with emotions...
1.) i just recently switched over from being vegetarian to vegan! it really is quite an exciting challenge that i recommend giving a shot.
remember animals suffer just the same, if not more, than we do.
this is the documentary that stopped my excuses and caused the switch:
"Earthlings" by Writer/Director Shaun Monson
2.) having always disliked corporations, this documentary came as a bit of a shock. i couldn't believe the amount of information i was unaware of before watching this film. "The Corporation" based on a book by Joel Bakan is a really eye opening look into the shit we have been fed in the past, as well as the shit we're being fed RIGHT AT THIS VERY MOMENT. shop fair trade, sweat shop free, and independently. decide what it is you like and why it is that you like it. i know i don't want to live in a carbon copy world. keep the mom and pop shops alive!
p.s. if you ever want to visit cool independent shops in the chicagoland area, i know a ton. let's make it a date!
3.) "Zeitgeist" (produced by Peter Joseph) was such a mind blowing film for me especially being the first of the documentaries viewed. after watching this film i felt a real sense of power and instantly wanted to show everyone and anyone. i finally had some proof on my theory of religious beliefs and my mind was put at ease. i couldn't believe it! unfortunately, many of the people i tried to get to watch it weren't so ready to question their entire existence. which is understandable because, let's face it, being told most of what you knew growing up is a lie is not-so-comforting. i was for sure uncomfortable after having watched this.
i hope it makes you just as uncomfortable too.
4.) for all you jesus loving christians/catholics, rent Jesus Camp and try to tell me there isn't something wrong with pushing your religious beliefs on your children. having been raised both catholic and christian, i wish my parents would have given me the opportunity to make the spiritual choice for myself. i still find it hard to decipher between what is truly morally right and what i was told is right. being religious is also being close minded, which is a very cult-like way of living. i'm glad that i've finally made the decision to be the owner and maker of my very own beliefs and morals. so, please, if you have (or are planning to have) children, don't push your faith on them. it's people (like my grandmother) who tell you to "baptize your baby immediately! otherwise, if they die, they go to HELL" that keep this doctrine alive and well.
remember that they are the owner of their mind, heart and soul, you are just the borrower.
"That being said, It is my hope that people will not take what is said
in the film as the truth, but find out for themselves, for truth is not told, it is realized."
-quote from the Zeitgeist website statement
well, that's all i have time for now.
tune in next time when i will be discussing whatever it is i want to discuss.
please watch these films, spread the word, and share your opinion either here or somewhere.
